OUR APPROACH TO BUSINESS
For us, sustainability is a continuous process. We conduct regular assessments to measure the impact of our business on people, the environment, and society, and we identify areas of action based on the results. Our assessments are guided by recognized standards that promote transparency and traceability.
Our sustainability team coordinates the implementation process and continuously refines our strategy along the entire value chain. This process encompasses aspects of energy and emissions, packaging and recycling, and raw materials. In the following, we outline the measures we are implementing and the goals we have set for ourselves.

Schogetten –
Energy and Emissions
The climate and the environment are core components of our corporate responsibility.
We operate a certified energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001. We have used 100% green electricity at all our production facilities since 2025, and we are continuously working on new ways to improve our efficiency and reduce emissions.
Schogetten – Packaging and Recycling
Recyclability and the use of resources are important issues for us. Our Schogetten packaging is made of materials that are up to 95% recyclable (percentage by mass according to cyclos-HTP for the available sorting and recycling infrastructure).*
*Applies to the EU, Switzerland, Norway, and the UK.

Schogetten – Raw Materials
Since July 1, 2026, we have been exclusively using Rainforest Alliance Certified cocoa (mass balance1) in Schogetten. We are also a founding member of the Forum Nachhaltiger Kakao e. V. (German Initiative on Sustainable Cocoa) and a member of the Association of the German Confectionery Industry (BDSI). As part of these organizations, we additionally support the Stiftung der Deutschen Kakao- und Schokoladenwirtschaft (German Cocoa and Chocolate Industry Foundation). When we use palm oil, we only use 100% RSPO-certified palm oil (certification level: “Segregated”2).
1) The mass balance method allows certified and noncertified raw materials to be mixed throughout the supply chain. It ensures that the amount of certified raw material used corresponds to the amount purchased. Learn more.
2) RSPO-certified palm oil from various certified sources that is kept separate from standard palm oil throughout the supply chain. Learn more.
